National leader Luisa María Alcalde declared that Morena "does not protect anyone, whether a member or not, who engages in acts of corruption or betrays the principles that give life to our movement."

He rejected the narrative that Morena is like other parties (like the PAN) that don't take action against other officials.

Adding, "Anyone who deviates from these principles must be held accountable for their actions, and if there is any doubt or accusation, it will be the authorities who, based on evidence, will resolve and determine their responsibility."

The coordinator of the Morena parliamentary group, Ricardo Monreal, will not attend the extraordinary session. He announced his absence due to a "family commitment." He wished the national leader, Luisa María Alcalde, "every success" in the meeting with the Council.

Senator Adán Augusto is accused of appointing Hernán Bermúdez Requena as head of the Tabasco Security Secretariat during his administration, Despite the fact that military authorities had been targeting him since at least 2022 for his alleged relationship with the criminal group La Barredora , close to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

Sources consulted by the newspaper Excélsior even affirm that the former governor of Tabasco and former Secretary of the Interior under López Obrador was not unaware of the alleged criminal ties, given that in 2018 a group of consultants warned him that Bermúdez Requena appeared as a "person of interest" in a database of people linked to crime.

Upon his arrival at the Council, Adán Augusto declined to provide further information on his former secretary's case and stated that it was the authorities' responsibility to report on the progress of the investigations.

Last May, Morena legislators accused Representative Ricardo Monreal and Senator Adán Augusto of meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum and then setting an agenda, without revealing whether they share her true message.
